How much time should I spend explaining my problem in the application form?

My problem is rather complex and there’s a lot of background story to it. The application form doesn’t give me much space and I fear the tribunal won’t give me a chance unless I explain the entire story to them. What can I do?

  • At the outset you might not need to give much detail.
  • In fact some review and appeals forms will only ask you to briefly state the decision that you disagree with.
  • This might be something along the lines of ‘the decision to stop my payments’ or ‘the refusal to consider my certificate.’
  • The brief nature of some forms might be because there is a hearing where the main issues will be aired or further information will be requested from you at a later date.
  • Do not provide more information than is requested.
  • If you are not sure how to complete your paperwork an administrative lawyer can certainly assist.
