I have a legal problem that relates to maritime law. What type of lawyer should I retain?

I own a small ship used to transport goods from one place to another. Last month the water border control seized my ship claiming it was transporting goods without licence. I want to dispute this allegation. What type of lawyer should I retain?

  • In this situation and depending on the complexity of your issue it may be best for you to contact a lawyer who is an accredited specialist in this area of law.
  • This will ensure that you get specialised advice and that your issue is concisely resolved.
  • The law societies in each state and territory maintain a register of lawyers who have specialist knowledge, skills and experience in specific legal areas such as:
    • maritime law;
    • personal injury law;
    • succession law; and
    • discrimination law.
