Is mediation compulsory for property issues?
My ex-partner will not go to mediation. What happens now? Can I still go to court?
Lawyer Answers (1): Answers from lawyers are general preliminary responses. They are not formal legal advice and cannot taken account of all your circumstances. They do not create a lawyer–client relationship.

- You can consult a lawyer who may be able to persuade your ex-partner to negotiate. If your ex-partner has a lawyer then the two lawyers may be able to negotiate on your behalf.
- If there is still no progress you can commence a claim in the Federal Circuit Court. Your ex-partner will then be ordered to attend mediation after the first court date.
