I want my children to live with my parents while I sort things out. Can this happen?

I’m in the process of ending an abusive relationship with my boyfriend. The kids’ father (my ex) has threatened to call the department on me if I don’t get the kids out of the house soon. Can I let them live with my parents while I sort things out and get a new place?

  • You will need to ask the Department to do an assessment of your parents to see if they are suitable carers.
  • Your parents may need to become parties to the case and get their own lawyers. Talk to your lawyer about this option.
