I live in South Australia but I was the victim of a crime in New South Wales. Where should I seek compensation?

I was assaulted while I was holidaying interstate. I have had a lot of medical expenses since I returned home. Can I apply for compensation in the state where I live? It has a much higher maximum limit.

  • No. You will need to approach the victims’ compensation scheme in the state where the crime was committed.
