Can my wife claim compensation because of the effect my injuries have had on her?

I was the victim of a violent assault and was seriously injured. My wife had a breakdown as a result of the stress and had to take time off work. Can she claim victims’ compensation?

  • No. Your wife is not entitled to claim victims’ compensation as a result of your injuries.
  • A victim’s spouse can only claim victim’s compensation if the victim was murdered.
