What can happen if I ignore a move on direction?

On Friday the police gave me a move on direction. They said I was not allowed in the CBD area for 24 hours. I left the area as directed. After a few hours my friends wanted to go back into the city and go to a new nightclub. I wanted to go with them but did not want to break the move on order. What could have happened if I decided to go back into the city?

  • If the police give you a direction to move on then you must obey this direction.
  • Going back into the city with your friends would have been a breach of the move on order.
  • If you breach the direction then you can be:
    • fined; or
    • arrested and charged with an offence.
