What happens with property and assets that are confiscated?

I have been charged with theft offences. My car and bank accounts have been restrained. What will happen to them if they end up being confiscated?

  • The funds generated by the confiscation of property and assets are held by the state or federal government.
  • The government then decides how these funds will be distributed back into the community. The funds are commonly used to pay for projects and enforcement relating to crime prevention.
