Are federal crimes like tax evasion covered by the confiscation laws?

My husband has been charged with tax offences over a number of years amounting to many thousands of dollars. Can the Commonwealth authorities confiscate our house?

  • Yes. There is scope under the laws for the DPP to recover money or assets that are derived through tax evasion as well as Medicare and Centrelink fraud.
