I’m the parent of a juvenile offender. I am on a low income and am worried about my child being sentenced to a fine I will not be able to afford to pay.

- When determining the appropriate sentence to issue to a juvenile offender a judge will only issue a fine if he or she is convinced that the child is capable of paying it themselves.
- The income and capacity of parents to pay fines issued to juveniles will not be considered.
