How do I change a by-law?

I don’t like the by-law in our strata plan that says we can’t hang our clothes out on our balconies for drying. Apparently this is true for all the lots within our community scheme. Can I ask for the by-law to be changed? How do I do this?

  • If the community management statement states that clothes cannot be dried on the balcony then regardless of what your apartment’s by-laws says the management statement will prevail.
  • To make the change effective you must put forward your motion at a general meeting of the community association and have it voted on by all members.
