I ran into a parked car when I wasn’t concentrating. Police witnessed the collision and have charged me with careless driving. I have received a summons to attend court. What penalty will I get?

- If you are found guilty of careless driving the court may impose one of the following:
- loss of demerit points;
- a fine which will be more severe if this is not your first careless driving offence;
- cancellation or suspension of your drivers licence;
- an undertaking to behave well for a certain period of time; or
- payment of compensation for any damage you caused.
