Am I covered if a natural disaster occurs which interrupts my trip?

I'm going to India during the monsoon and I know that there can be a lot of disruptions to travel plans and potentially dangerous events such as mudslides. Am I likely to be covered for something like a mudslide?

  • To be covered for these events you will need to ensure that your travel insurance agreement includes coverage for interruption or disruption of your trip in the event that there is a natural disaster.
  • Sometimes you will only be covered if the disaster is unforeseen. A mudslide might be unforeseen but general delays caused by the monsoon may not be as you should be aware that this is just a part of travel during the rainy season in India. On the other hand some policies will cover delays regardless of what season. You should speak with your travel insurance provider to confirm the different situations in which you will and will not be covered for delay or disruption due to a natural event or natural disaster.
