I recently purchased a kitchen appliance from a whitegoods retailer which stopped working within 6 months of normal use. I want my money back but I don’t know the name of the manufacturer of the appliance. Can I take action against the supplier instead?

- Yes. You are usually able to take action against the supplier.
- A person who wishes to take action against defective goods but who does not know who the manufacturer of the goods is can ask the supplier to provide them with these details.
- If the supplier fails to produce the manufacturers’ details the law assumes the seller to be the manufacturer and legal action can be taken against the supplier as though they were the manufacturer.
