What is an asbestos-related condition and why is the claim for compensation subjected to a claims resolution process?

I don't think that mediation is going to help my claim. I know my employer isn't interested in that at all and he will not settle. What is the reason for a claims resolution process if I don't even think it will be worth our time?

  • An asbestos-related condition means a dust-related condition and includes asbestosis, asbestos induced carcinoma, an asbestos-related pleural disease or mesothelioma.
  • In NSW all asbestos-related disease claims are subjected to a claims resolution process in order to promote early provision of information and particulars concerning the claim, support prompt settlement of any claims and reduce unnecessary legal and administrative costs.
