Are there any exemptions or concessions for motor vehicle transfer and registration duty?
- Yes. There are numerous exemptions and concessions which apply in NSW and include when a vehicle is:
- awarded as part of a divorce settlement;
- purchased by eligible veterans;
- a caravan;
- left to you in a will;
- being transferred from interstate registration in your name when stamp duty has already been paid for that vehicle in another state or territory;
- transferred between married or de facto couples from joint names to a single name; or
- is property owned by a not for profit organisations involved in charitable, philanthropic, patriotic or welfare work.
